Tried again to put up all the photos of the Nexus exhibition as a photo album - took forever and looked horrible so I just put photos on individually. Still doesn't look very good but better than it was. If you want to see all the wonderful art go to our Facebook page which is cap-2015-2017.

We put up our exhibition at the Nexus Art Café yesterday. Looks good. Took photos of everyone's pieces and was putting them on our Facebook page (cap-2015-2017) . HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE? I've tried twice and all I get is "uploading photos". I've given up for today. I'll try
Facebook again tomorrow. Meanwhile, here is my exhibit. I know you've seen it before but not against a lovely brown background. Last week! Seems like half a lifetime away now so I thought I'd better put a couple more pieces out there in cyberspace.
Had time to recover from Wednesday. Very successful evening . I had a lot of very positive comments about my installation with one visitor saying my case of ceramic ammonites was the best thing she'd seen. Really felt good about but I must thank Anne and Rachael (two of my tutors) for their advice and help. Thanks guys.
What a day!
Everyone pitched in to finish transforming our room into a fabulous exhibition space ready for the private viewing at 6pm. Ground floor space equally fabulous with the fashion exhibition and more of our artwork. Lots of people came to look, admire, chat, have a few nibbles, look through sketchbooks and enjoy themselves. All the budding artists (commonly described as children) were incredibly well-behaved and took part in an activity designed by one of my fellow students. Hand in two units on Wednesday.
Dentist Wednesday lunchtime for my crown fitting - I've been lisping for the last 10 days. Get everything set up for our college exhibition on Wednesday evening. Take the rest of my stuff (sorry, artwork) home to join an enormous pile of other stuff. It's just amazing how much you accumulate in a year. Saturday and Sunday. Sleep, sleep and maybe a bit more sleep. THEN - get geared up for summer placement, homework and getting to grips with Illustrator. Here's a selection of random blue stuff - actually they are quite good, if I say so myself. Today me and my friend, Mina, went to the degree show. Architecture through Fashion to Interactive Arts to Textiles and everything in-between. Spent most of our time looking at ceramics, fashion and textiles. Watched a couple of films, had coffee and a cake, met some friends, talked to some of the students and got a lot of inspiration. There's so much to see. So much talent. I'll be going back again. The show's on for another 10 days so try and get there if you can. If I never make it as an artist I could get a job as a bartender! Last night was the private viewing of year 2's exhibition. Some of year 1 (my year) helped out by serving drinks thus leaving Victoria, Nina, Katie, Michaela, Claire and Maya free to mingle. There were some wonderful pieces on display - the exhibition is on for quite some time so take the opportunity to see it. One disappointment - I heard that some people can open a bottle of beer using their teeth. Every time I gave someone a bottle of beer I said "Are you going to open this with your teeth or do you want me to use my bottle opener?" My bottle opener was very busy.
I had a lovely time, enjoyed the bartending, admired the work, chatted to the artists and just took in the ambiance of the event. Thank you ladies for being so inspirational. Am I buzzing today? Got a fabulous placement over the summer with someone I really admire
who is a textile designer and a LOT more as well. Can't tell you any more at the moment as need to do all the paperwork stuff first. Also may be getting a short placement with an artist who specializes in life drawing. Again needs to be formalised. I'm so excited. So lucky. So excited - think I might have already told you that. To celebrate my buzzingness (I know it's not a real word but sums up my feelings) here are a few more of my bee photos. |
